Samuel McKirahan
Samuel is an electrical power systems leader with nearly 10 years of experience specializing in transmission and high-voltage distribution planning and generation and load interconnection procedures. He is experienced in renewable generation interconnection, working with developers to design and submit interconnection applications and with utilities to study renewable generation.
Samuel and his team help renewables developers submit interconnection applications to utility entities across the United States, including Midcontinent Independent System Operator, Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland Interconnection, Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, Electric Reliability Council of Texas, and Independent System Operators–New England. Samuel’s previous large-utility work experience allowed him to consult numerous utility clients on services ranging from interconnection studies to compliance and criteria creation.
Samuel is proficient in load-flow simulation tools such as Power System Simulation for Engineering, Transmission Adequacy and Reliability Assessment, and power system simulation software PSCAD.
Earlier in his career, Samuel worked as a planning engineer creating short- and long-term system plans for the central Illinois high-voltage distribution system as well as studying load and generation interconnections.
